Are Carbs the Enemy?
I feel like this is such a simply but loaded topic. It is also pretty personal to my own experience in my life as well. I was constantly surrounded by the pressures of society says carbs are going straight to fat and to watch your carbs whether it’s for vanity or insulin purposes. If you are diagnosed with Type 2 DM (Diabetes Mellitus) This will look different for you, but for the rest of the general public…. let’s set the record straight.
Carbohydrates are one of three macronutrients that your body relies on to maintain and efficiently run all the mechanisms in your body. Now, if you have a complex machine that requires 3 main components- imagine what it would look like with only relying on two out of the three. But, we need the research presented to we can go through life making carb-educated decisions without fearing them entirely.
Carbs are fuel for the body and that is a FACT. Without carbs completely your body will not have fuel to actually utilize being able to go into a fat-burning state. You put yourself at a disservice in eliminating all carbs. Weight loss attributed to an extreme low-carb diet is due to water weight and/or muscle glycogen; which is not the weight we want to loose! Prolonged low-carbs leads to a higher threshold of Ketosis, which is the mechanism of fat burning in the body. In the modeling industry, carbs are in fact the enemy. But all your efforts in the gym are being suppressed. As a athlete I was told to eat sufficient carbs, but then what do you do when your body doesn’t need to function at that level anymore. Together you discover things for yourself and your needs.

Your knowledge of carbs should be expanded other than negative nuances. You want carbs to aid important brain function, provide fiber, stabilize blood sugar levels to support metabolic help, and give you the energy to power your whole day and movement.
